What we show
Sharp Sources shows headlines, short summaries provided by publishers in their own feeds (no more than 200 characters), and links to the original articles. We don't host full articles or images from publishers; every headline links to the publisher's own site.
Removal and correction requests
If you own the copyright in something shown on Sharp Sources, you can ask us to remove or correct it at any time. Many requests can be handled by a simple email; a formal notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) is also accepted, as described below.
Newsletter writers
If you write a newsletter listed on Sharp Sources and simply want your listing updated or removed, no formal notice is needed. Just email [email protected] with the subject “Listing request”, or use the “Update or remove this listing” link on your profile page.
Designated DMCA agent
Send copyright notices to our designated agent:
- Name: Michael Foisset, operator of Sharp Sources
- Email: [email protected]
What a DMCA notice must include
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3), a notice must be in writing and include:
- A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed (or, for several works, a representative list).
- Identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough detail for us to find it, including the URL of the page on Sharp Sources where it appears.
- Your contact information: name, address, telephone number and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.
Counter-notices
If material you provided was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice under 17 U.S.C. § 512(g). It must include your physical or electronic signature; identification of the removed material and where it appeared; a statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief it was removed by mistake or misidentification; and your name, address and telephone number, with a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district where Sharp Sources may be found) and will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice. If we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore the material in 10 to 14 business days unless the complainant tells us they have filed a court action.
Repeat infringers
We remove sources and feeds that repeatedly infringe others’ copyrights.
Response time
We aim to respond to removal requests and notices within 3 business days.
Please be accurate
Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation in a notice or counter-notice may be liable for damages.
Governing law
This policy is part of our Terms of use and is governed by the laws of the State of Florida.
